Getting to Whistler

Britannia Beach is about 20 minutes before Squamish

Its pretty much one road in and one road out of Whistler!  Highway 99 extends from the North End of Vancouver where at Horseshoe Bay you have an option to either turn right and wind down to the Ferry docks, or stay to your left and begin your travel on the ‘Sea to Sky Highway’.  Named this because of the stunning vistas of ocean and mountain, this newly upgraded mountain highway is a pleasure to drive.    Most of the distance features two lanes and gentle grades as you wind your way up to the valley where Whistler is located.

Your largest stop before you reach Whistler will be Squamish, a rock-climbers paradise located at the end of the inlet. There you leave the ocean behind and drive approximately another 30 minutes to the south end of Whistler, Function Junction, which is the local industrial area.  After that, the first lights you reach are located at Creekside. This is the original base of Whistler and was there for years before they built the village and opened Blackcomb Mountain.  For more information on getting around in Whistler see our About Whistler page. Further up Highway 99 you will find the main intersection for the village.

Greyhound bus, limousine, taxi and private bus services are all easy ways to get to Whistler, there is also an airport in Pemberton (30 minutes North of Whistler) that a charter flight can take you into.  Once in Whistler there is excellent bus service that the locals make good use of, and plenty of taxis.  As well, if you bring your bike, trails extend throughout the resort town linking every area, and making bike commuting a common method of travel.
